PBL World, scheduled June 23-27 in lovely Napa, CA, will bring together 600 educators who understand that Project Based Learning is a key strategy for creating an effective and engaging 21st Century classroom that promotes students’ ability to master significant content.
This is a conference unlike any other. Rather than sessions, PBL World is built around workshops and academies. Attendees can participate in BIE's classic PBL 101 workshop, which engages them in learning the principles for designing, assessing and managing standards-focused projects as well as using performance assessments to judge the rigorous work generated by 21st Century learners.
We will offer our two-day PBL Leadership Academy and PBL Coaching Academy throughout the week. We are adding a two-day PBL 1-to-1 Academy, which focuses on teaching and learning in a one-to-one computing environment. Our most exciting 2014 additions are the four-day PBL and Common Core math and English/language arts academies.
Mornings will be devoted to engaging keynotes by educational thought leaders. Afternoons belong to the attendees, who will participate at no cost in a series of short Tech Boot Camps that focus on technology integration (Twitter, blogging, Edmodo) or share their ideas during Ignite presentations.
On Thursday, model PBL Networks will facilitate PBL 201 workshops to help participants dive deeper in a particular area of Project Based Learning.
On Friday, PBL Tech Expo will showcase innovative companies that provide content-, platform-, and technology-solutions that address the needs of PBL teachers, schools and districts.
Evenings, well, we are going to be in Napa...
